Part 1- Some Initial Thoughts about the Second Trump Presidency
Since this is Trump’s second and last term as president, you can be sure that he will spend some effort belittling and humiliating them- and what better way to start than by making them confirm some of most unusual candidates in recent memory. Readers might wonder if some of those supposedly “moderate” Republicans might successfully stop him, and to that I have one answer- recess appointments. Yes, doing so will be unusual but still perfectly legal and at this point Trump is actively trying to humiliate those who undermined him.
Part 2- Some Initial Thoughts about the Second Trump Presidency
To understand why Trump is dissing Canada, we have to first understand the history between the two parties in Canada’s current ruling coalition and Trump. The very short version is that senior members of the Liberals and NDP have been mocking Trump for the past eight years. Justin Trudeau, who recently was forced to resign as Prime minister, repeatedly trying to position himself as some anti-Trump on the international arena was especially unhelpful. To be fair, other seniors Liberal and NDP leaders were not much better.
Part 3- Some Initial Thoughts about the Second Trump Presidency
The short version is that any real USA-China trade war will be end in a humiliating defeat and long-term damage for USA. The longer version is as follows: USA as it exists in 2025 is a heavily financialized and increasingly dysfunctional system without the physical infrastructure and institutional memory to become a manufacturing power once again- at least in its current form. To make matters worse, USA has spent the three decades after end of cold war antagonizing many people and nations across the world- including its alleged allies.
